DROP. OPEN. DONE.
Privacy policy
Last updated: 7 November 2026
The short version
Droply has no servers and collects no data. Files you choose are sent directly from your browser to your own Google Drive. Nothing is sent to the developer or to anyone else.
What Droply accesses and why
- Files you choose. When you drop a file on Droply, pick one, or click one in your recent downloads, Droply reads that file and uploads it to your Google Drive so Google can open it in Docs, Sheets or Slides. Droply only reads files you explicitly give it.
- Your downloads list. Droply reads the names, sizes and dates of your recent downloads to show Office files in the side panel and to count new ones on the toolbar icon. This stays in your browser.
- Web pages you visit. Droply runs a small script on web pages so it can show its drop card when you drag a file over the page. It only listens for file-drag events. It does not read, collect or change page content.
- Your Google account. When you sign in, Google gives Droply a temporary access token and your email address, which Droply shows in Settings. Droply asks only for the
drive.file permission, which lets it create files in your Drive and access only the files it created. It cannot see your other Drive files.
What is stored, and where
- Your settings, your connected account’s email address, and a list of up to 20 recently opened files (name, link, time) are stored locally in your browser.
- The Google access token is kept in temporary browser memory and expires within an hour.
- Converted files are stored in your own Google Drive, under your control, like any other file you create there.
- Nothing is stored on any server operated by the developer. There are no analytics, tracking, advertising or third-party scripts.
Sharing
Droply does not sell, share or transfer your data. The only data transfer is the upload of files you choose to Google, using Google’s official Drive API, so that they open in your account. Google’s handling of that data is covered by Google’s Privacy Policy.
Droply’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your controls
- Sign out in Droply’s Settings to revoke its access token. You can also remove Droply’s access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Clear the recent files list in Settings, or uninstall Droply to remove all locally stored data.
- Files Droply created in your Drive stay there until you delete them.
